This is a gem from Gooseberry Patch’s Fall Family and Friends book.
18-1/4 oz. spice or carrot cake mix
2 T. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. oil
2 eggs
2 T. water
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans (we don’t “do” nuts so I left those out)
1 c. butterscotch chips
Stir together cake mix and brown sugar. Add oil, eggs and water; mix well. Stir in nuts and butterscotch chips. Spread in a 9×13 baking dish sprayed with non-stick spray. Bake at 350 degrees until done but not dry, about 22 minutes. Let cool; cut into bars. Makes 20 bars.
